Emil Ebneter founded the Appenzeller Alpenbitter AG in 1902. He opened a spirit store and created alcoholic drinks which one couldn’t drink anywhere else. One of these drinks was the famous Appenzeller Alpenbitter that uses a total of 42 selected herbs. The recipe has remained unchanged ever since the beginning and is a well-kept family secret. The drink which originates in the Appenzell canton in the northeast of Switzerland. The label design was inspired by the iconic alpine hut Gasthaus Aescher – Wildkirchli which is situated in Appenzellerland.
